"You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." – Jim Rohn

I read this quote recently and it really got me thinking. What if the success of your business is determined by the average of your five most important advisers?

The five might fall into any of the following categories:

  • Solicitor
  • Business Partner 
  • FinancialPlanner/Risk Specialist        
  • Independent Director 
  • Accountant 
  • Mentor 
  • BankManager/Lending Specialist       
  • Succession Planner 
  • Business Coach

I believe that our success is inexplicably linked to surrounding ourselves with a 'Network of Experts' who are exceptionalin their respective fields and who just as importantly share our passion and values. This is what allows us to build exceptional businesses, careers and ultimately gives us the means to do what it is we love.

Just think for a minute, what would be thecost to profit, lifestyle, business culture or even our reputation, if we compromised and surrounded ourselves with less than exceptional people?

My challenge to you this month is:

  • Take a look at 5 of your advisers, thinkabout their 'average' and determine:
  • Are they all exceptional in their chosenprofession and do they share your passion and values?
  • What effect is this having on your business,lifestyle and family? ·What are you going to do to 'increase your average'?
