"Let him who would move the world, first move himself." - Socrates

For those of you who don't know, Sarah and I got married this weekend (picture below).

Apart from the fact that I will now need to learn to do as I am told, it is imperative we review of our financial situation to ensure our plan remains relevant. This is critical to achieving our business and lifestyle goals and ensuring our continued financial success.

The following are a few of the items that can be considered a 'major change' in your situation:-

  • Marriage
  • Birth of children
  • Divorce
  • Sale/purchase of a business
  • Change of job
  • Increase or decrease in debts
  • A decision to finally take control of your financial future and not leave it to chance

In our case, some of the items we have reviewed to ensure they're still up to date and relevant are:-

  • Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney
  • Superannuation Binding Nominations
  • Personal Insurance - Life, TPD, Trauma and Income Protection, and who gets the money and when
  • Business Insurance - Keyperson, Buysell, Debt Coverage & Business Expenses
  • Retirement Goals - Reconfirm what they are and are they achievable
  • Are our lifestyle and corresponding assets protected

So this month, if you have had a major change or just haven't reviewed things for a while, at the very least pick one thing you know needs reviewing and sort it out!

Remember, "An ounce of action is worth a ton of theory" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Have a great month.

Cheers, Ben.
